嘉宾简介:

达维德·古韦纳尔是现任宾夕法尼亚大学韦茨曼设计学院景观系和城市与区域规划系的双聘实践副教授,他曾任西蒙博利瓦尔大学建筑系主任、加拉加斯都会大学市长学院城市设计专业的共同创办人及主任,以及委内瑞拉城市发展部副秘书长。


古韦纳尔拥有哈佛大学的城市设计硕士学位,以及西蒙·博利瓦尔大学的建筑学学士学位。他的研究领域主要聚焦于发展中国家的城市化问题,特别是城市中非正式的自发性建设的相关议题,此外他还关注气候变化适应性和文化景观保护。古韦纳尔主讲的景观和城市设计的设计课选址覆盖全球超过80个城市,并教授过超过7,000名学生。


He holds a M. Arch in Urban Design from Harvard University and a B. Arch from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela. He is Associate Professor of Practice in the Departments of Landscape Architecture and City Planning at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. His areas of research focus on urbanization in developing countries where a high percentage of the population will live in self-constructed settlements, dealing with climate change, and safeguarding cultural landscapes. He has been Chair of the School of Architecture at Universidad Simón Bolívar, co-founder of the Urban Design program and Director of the Mayor's Institute at Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, and Adjunct Secretary of Urban Development of Venezuela. He has led landscape and urban design studios in sites in more than 80 cities and has had over 7,000 students.  


讲座摘要:

本次讲座将讨论影响城市宜居性的紧迫挑战,特别是全球南部地区快速发展的城市群,并提供如何通过混合和多尺度方法来应对相关挑战的线索。需要跨学科的团队合作、政策支持和社区参与的相关工作,并依赖将规划与设计和自发的非正式响应相结合的方式。设计项目的混合性质也得益于结合手绘的大尺度mapping和计算机生成探索的设计过程。


The lecture will address some pressing of the challenges affecting the livability of cities - specially the fast growing conglomerates in the global south- , and offers clues on how to tackle them with hybrid and multiscaler approaches. These efforts require interdisciplinary teamwork, political support, and communal engagement. They also rely on a combination of planned/designed and people-driven informal responses. The hybrid nature of the projects can also benefit from a design process that combines hand drawn large scale mapping and computer-generated explorations.
